Laila Umeko

Using an 8m high aerial structure and a variety of circus techniques we examine the world's definitions around growing up. We work with the desire to evoke the imagination, curiosity and dreams of childhood; and perhaps also the frustration, disillusionment and monotony we face as adults. We invite the people of the streets to join us as we let go of responsibility and joyfully demand each other the question; what will you be when you grow up?

La Lune Bleue is a young all female circus company founded by Laila Umeko, Elise Martin and Mia Mattenklott in 2021. Using a unique blend of acrobatics, dance and music, we playfully explore our place in today’s society, encouraging audience members to do the same.
